My experience at Bio-Link Summer Fellows Forum 2011
What an exciting time it has been in sunny Berkeley, California for the past week. Learning about the many biotechnology programs around the country, meeting enthusiastic colleagues willing to share, experiencing lab techniques, and sharing educational philosophies has been the mainstay of this experience. The reason that I asked to participate in this forum is that I knew that I needed help in developing a fledgling biotechnology course/certificate/program. I have learned so much to take back with me to South Carolina.
The first biotechnology course at York Technical College will be offered August 2011! After receiving an AdvanceSC grant, John McGill and I began developing a biotechnology and chemical operator certificate at the college. This included the development of an introductory biotechnology course, BTN 103. For more information about this course contact me, Janie Sigmon, Science Instructor at jsigmon@yorktech.edu or John McGill, Science Department Chair at jmcgill@yorktech.edu.
