The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports this multi-disciplinary bioscience initiative through the Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Program, DUE Grant #1304010. During this four week professional development initiative, Fellows reside in Winston-Salem, NC where they gain a panoramic view of the bioscience industry and participate in laboratory skills “boot camps” at our 3 collaborating community colleges; Forsyth Technical Community College (Forsyth Tech), Alamance Community College (ACC), and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College (RCCC). In addition to the hands-on laboratory experience, Fellows will shadow workers in various departments at a dozen different industrial/university hosting facilities, gain invaluable insight from special guest presenters, and develop/present an instructional module related to the project that can be shared and or implemented at their home institutions. Travel expenses are included and a competitive weekly training stipend is offered for Fellows that qualify. Educational professionals who enjoy providing exceptional services to their students and share an interest in learning/sharing new insights from the bioscience industry should apply.
