The BioSCOPE supply chain hub is working with several biotechnology education programs at community colleges in the Bay area. Students in the community college biotech programs manufacture agar plates, media, and other supplies needed for both college and high school laboratory courses. These activities give biotech students additional hands-on practice in following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to manufacture biotechnology products (media). Students also learn about quality control. BABEC serves to coordinate these activities and match the colleges with schools that need these supplies.
